FIRST LOVE
I didn't know what you were going through I was too young to be aware, All I know is you left one day and my hero was no longer there
I gave my whole heart to you Even cried when you felt bad And when you walked away from me You left the greatest love you had
I waited by the window I listened for your call As I watched the flowers begin to bloom And snowflakes start to fall
On Christmas you sent presents Every birthday there was a card But I've never heard the words that I needed to hear Enduring your silence, for me, was hard
Was it me that caused you to walk away To grow so distant and cold? Your absence has created a void in me I still have the need to feel whole.
I cling to tender memories Of moments we used to share Like how times when I cried out in the nite, your loving arms were there.
You were my first love, my first friend, my caring and faithful defender, You caused my first loss, my first pain, and became my soul's contender
I still wait and watch through the window pane as the months and years roll by I still feel the loss of unrequited love then , daddy, I start to cry.
